About the concert in Tunaberg Church, May 7, 2023

Under the radiant May sun in Tunaberg Church, a unique psalmodikon from 1849 was brought to life by Kalle Ohlsson, leading to an unforgettable day filled with music and history. Let yourself be swept away by the story of how a forgotten instrument united music groups and the congregation to celebrate a rich cultural heritage.

When Kalle Ohlsson found a forgotten psalmodikon at the local heritage center in Koppartorp, north of Nyköping, he decided to revive the instrument from its slumber. And it wasn't just any psalmodikon that Kalle had found, but one made by J G Lind in 1849 in Åker (Åkers styckebruk?). A new string was needed, which led to a dialogue that ended with an invitation to the music groups in Stockholm and Väderstad to come and play at the service on May 7th in Tunaberg's beautiful wooden church in Koppartorp. For us who played, it became a full day in this idyllic part of Sörmland, and we heard from the chairman of the local heritage association about the interesting history of the copper mining that gave the place its name. Koppartorp basked in the May sun, and it was a memorable service with a total of ten psalmodikon players, and of course, we played "Den blomstertid nu kommer." After the service, there were more songs and more about the intangible cultural heritage that the use of the psalmodikon represents. Trying to play it ourselves was, as usual, appreciated, and we got to hear psalmodikon stories. A big thank you to Kalle Ohlsson and the church for giving us all a day to remember.
