Folk Music Festival in Stjärnsund - August 2024

On August 3, 2024, the Stora Skedvi psalmodikon group participated in the folk music festival in Stjärnsund. The group, formed in 2012, consists of four members who play four-part harmonies with the psalmodikon, a traditional Swedish string instrument from the 19th century.

On August 3rd, the Stora Skedvi psalmodikon group participated in the festival in Stjärnsund. The psalmodikon group was formed in 2012 in conjunction with the establishment of a music room at the Hembygdsgården. There were some old psalmodikons in the Local Heritage Association's collections waiting to be played, and after contacting the Psalmodikon Association and attending a weekend course, we got started. Initially, we were a quintet, but our youngest member soon left for studies, leaving us with four "old men," Göran Sundmark, Göran Hellgren, Erland Nydén, and Leif Olofsson. We enjoy playing in four-part harmony. Sometimes Göran Hellgren brings out the nyckelharpa, and then the rest of us accompany with our psalmodikons using simple arrangements made by Leif Olofsson.
