Psalmodik Sunday was celebrated throughout the country.
For the first time, the day of the psalmodikon was celebrated on February 8. This was done both with participation in worship services and a playing course.
In Moheda equmenia church, north of Växjö, the Hallaryd group of psalmodikonists participated in a service. About 50 service attendees got to sing hymns accompanied by the psalmodikon. After the service, there was great interest among the attendees, both to learn more about the instrument and to try playing it themselves. The visiting musicians helped with great enthusiasm. One visitor had brought their own instrument and received some tips and advice on maintenance, among other things.
In Väderstad church, the Väderstad group participated in a mass with about 30 attendees, where the new church council of Folkungabygden parish was also welcomed. During the service, the group performed David Unger's newly written piece Hymn for the 40th anniversary of the Nordic Psalmodikon Association, composed especially for three psalmodikon voices, in a world premiere.
The course "Learn to play psalmodikon" was held on Monday at Sensus study association in Linköping and lasted until lunch. Three new psalmodikon players participated along with the Väderstad group. Together we played simple melodies from the Swedish song treasure and the hymn book, while the course provided an introduction to the exciting history of the psalmodikon.
