Visit to Skellefteå Museum
At Skellefteå Museum, they have nine psalmodikons in their collection, all of which look different. In 2026, they will have a music theme and therefore wanted to know more. Michael Andersson from the Nordic Psalmodikon Association went there.
- We know very little about how the psalmodikon was used, so we really want to learn more, says the antiquarian Jenny Tingvall, who together with her colleague Anja Sundqvist Axelsen is responsible for the collections. For a couple of hours, each instrument was carefully studied while they wrote so the pen glowed to document everything that was said. The visit will be followed up with another visit in 2026 by the representative of the Nordic Psalmodikon Association, in connection with a theme day during the fall, entirely dedicated to the psalmodikon and psalmodikon playing.
